Zvecan, Leposavic and Zubin Potok Municipalities officially embarked in the Inclusive Development Programme!

On Thursday, 26th January 2017, in two northern municipalities Memoranda of Understanding were signed between respectively Mayor of Zvecan - Mr. Vucina Jankovic, Mayor of Leposavic - Mr. Dragan Jablanovic, and Ms. Gwendoline Mennetrier- Chief Technical Adviser for UN-Habitat along with Michael James Warren - Programme Manager for PAX. Signing of a third Memorandum of Understanding took place on Tuesday, 2nd February 2017, with the Deputy Mayor of Zubin Potok - Mr. Srdjan Vucinic, on behalf of the Mayor of Zubin Potok. All ceremonies took place in respective Mayors' offices with the participation of the partner organization -Community Building Mitrovica.

With this milestone that establishes formal cooperation between the parties and municipal planning teams, the implementation of  the programme "Fostering inclusive development and good governance in northern Kosovo" funded by the Swedish Development Cooperation takes off.

The programme will particularly look at inclusive development and good governance through planned and conflict-sensitive development, with communities integrated at all stages of planning and implementation and within a framework of effective inter-municipal cooperation and multi-level governance. On this occasion, the Mayor of Zvecan - Mr. Vucina Jankovic said: "The only way to deal with the current situation, with expired planning documents, is to use the experience and technical assistance of UN-Habitat and kick-start quality and smart planning for the municipality. The programme will help citizens to engage and improve public administration and to hold public institutions accountable when there is further planning of capital investments. I am pleased to see openness in cooperation between UN-Habitat and Zve?an Municipality, and there are many reasons for optimism".
