Moronica is one of the main features of the wooded mountainous landscape of the Municipality of Junik. It marks the beginning of Junik Mountains, located in the south-west of Kosovo. Moronica extends along the river Ereniku, which offers a natural physical separation from the city. During the 1960’s pine trees were planted in the area of Moronica as a protective measure from the risk of landslide. In 2008, the Municipal Assembly of Junik issued the decision no. 01/08, “On the declaration of Moronica complex – particular area of the Municipality of Junik”. The project comes as a continuation of the process of protection and bringing this area to the community use.
