UN-Habitat, with selected Kosovo municipalities, have
undertaken comprehensive participatory processes for designing selected public
spaces using Minecraft. This was done within the Global Public Space Programme
and in partnership with the Swedish company Mojang and aimed to raise awareness
on public space development and management, urban safety and accessibility for
all, and directly engage citizens in urban design solutions development.
Through the involvement of more than 220 Minecrafters, the Programme delivered the first skate park of Prishtina and helped to outreach youth, women and girls, and persons with special needs, and further institutionalize participatory urban design approaches at the local level.
Watch the video below to learn more on how young people used Minecraft to redesign and transform a part of their city.
