Fostering inclusive development and good governance in northern Kosovo (Sept 2016 - Aug 2020)

The programme, Fostering Inclusive Development and Good Governance in northern Kosovo (Inclusive Development Programme), aims to facilitate alignment of northern Kosovo municipalities with the Kosovo-wide planning framework, strengthen the social contract through civil society mobilization and public dialogue, and foster integration by nurturing local-central and inter-municipal dialogue and cooperation, including through practical infrastructure and service delivery improvements. The project has been developed at the request of the Kosovo Government and is financed by the Swedish Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). It's being jointly implemented by UN-Habitat, PAX and Community Building Mitrovica (CBM), and the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning (MESP), the Ministry of Local Government Administration (MLGA),  as well as concerned local authorities in Leposavic/Leposaviq, Mitrovica South, Mitrovica North, Zubin Potok, Zvecan, Skenderaj/Srbica and Vushtrri/Vucitrn.

Goal: Foster inclusive development and good governance in northern Kosovo through support to integration in Kosovo's planning framework, with strong democratic oversight, local-central dialogue, and inter-municipal cooperation.

Key partners: UN-Habitat and PAX (lead implementing agencies); municipalities; MESP and MLGA; CBM and Mitrovica Regional Monitoring Team (MRMT).
