MuSPP and Municipality of Hani i Elezit/General Jankovic work together on shaping future development

Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme (MuSPP) in cooperation with Municipality of Hani i Elezit/General Jankovic, organized a workshop with citizens, civil society organizations and municipal officers on revising the vision declaration of Hani i Elezit, drafted in the visioning workshop held in Ohrid in 2008.

The newly elected mayor Refki Suma, in his opening speech expressed his gratitude to MuSPP for the support given in many fields adding that Hani i Elezit/General Jankovic needs the support especially when it comes to capacity building of municipal bodies. 

MuSPP officers of Prishtina and Hani i Elezit/General Jankovic presented the benefits coming from visioning workshop as the crucial step to shape the future development of the city.  The presentation on participatory planning and Municipal/Urban situation appraisal using SWOT technique was also done by the MuSPP officers. It was intended to strengthen understanding of the importance of participatory planning among newly elected officers in this municipality.

 The workshop continued with the working groups on geographical and physical conditions, economic development, infrastructure, environment and demography and social development.   

At the end of the workshop, participants from all working groups reformulated the vision declaration for Hani i Elezit/General Jankovic, as follows:

Functional administrative centre stimulated by the industrial progress with the clean environment, developed infrastructure and healthy life for all.   

The new vision will be incorporated in the municipal development plan for Hani i Elezit /General Jankovic which is currently being drafted and it will give guidance to the future development.
