Final design for revitalizing “Rruga e Farkatarve” has been presented

Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme in cooperation with the Municipality of Prizren presented the final design of the Capital Investment Project (CIP) on revitalization of Farkatarve Street in Prizren.

The design of the CIP has been drafted jointly by the Municipality and MuSPP office in Prizren and during the process comments and remarks of the community and local businesses have been incorporated into the project design. This action was taken due to the nature of the project which is dedicated to the citizens.

Director of Municipal Public Services in Prizren, Sadik Paçarizi, said that the project will contribute to the e cultural heritage of Prizren and will improve quality life of the citizens.

The event followed with the joint presentation of MuSPP and Municipality representatives from the Department of Public Services. Presentation included the main features of the project which are to pedestrianise Farkatareve Street, introduce appropriate, high quality surface materials that will provide full accessibility to all, and ensure unimpaired pedestrian flow between Farkatareve Street and the Shadervan. The intervention will also improve lighting, signage and landscaping to enhance the pedestrian experience of the public spaces of the historic core, and in particular to highlight and connect those heritage and cultural items located within the project area (the Tekke, Hammam, Dokufest venue, etc.).

The overarching objective of this project is to deliver a tangible exemplar project co-funded by the both parties, through a series of interventions to create pleasant conditions for pedestrian flow within a heritage precinct using a range of participatory planning technique, innovative design standards and project management techniques. To be more specific the project will integrate the historic core in Prizren (Shadervan) with Farkatarëve Street as a key mobility line with the historic core.

The implementation of capital investment project of the “ Farkatarve Street” will be funded by both parts, UN-HABITAT and Municipality of Prizren.
