Tour de Culture 10
Like a carnival for promotion of Kosovo beauty, tradition and alternative methods of transport, for the third time this year Tour de Culture will be organized. This activity is a non-competitive and recreational cycling tour organized within the framework of the European Mobility Week (EMW) and European Heritage Days (EHD) on 19th of September 2010.
Being a unique activity in Kosovo, Tour de Culture is a consolidation of the principles deriving from EMW and EHD which aim at promoting this healthier, efficient and environmentally friendly way of transportation as well as raising awareness of local government towards improvement of the road infrastructure and safety for alternative methods of transport while enjoying the beauty and tradition of Kosovo cities and villages. Tour de Culture has ambition to become a tradition and create a demand for Kosovos citizens for such an activity.
This year the tour will start in Prizren, where a part of the city center will be free from cars, in a measure taken from the EMW. Following local roads from the historic city of Prizren the tour will continue to the green and eco Mamusha where the cyclists will have a chance to taste organic products of Mamusha and experience the dance and music of the multiethnic municipality. Slowly the group will continue to Hoca e Madhe for a delicious meal and a visit to religious monuments of this village, before reaching the last point of the tour for wine tasting, while cycling through Kosovos most beautiful vineyards.
Tour de Culture is being organized by UN-HABITATs Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme (funded by Sida) and Cultural Heritage without Borders. It is also supported by the European Union / Council of Europe Joint Project "Support to the Promotion of Cultural Diversity ", Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR) and in partnership with Municipality of Prizren, Mamusha, Community of Hoca e Madhe and Stone Castle wine house in Rahovec.
