Access improvement to the primary school Meto Bajtaktari in Mitrovica
We are pleased to announce the
inauguration of Capital Investment Project Access Improvement to the Primary
School Meto Bajraktari in Mitrovica, as a 50/50 co-funded project by
Municipality of Mitrovica and the Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme,
Phase2 (MuSPP2) of UN-HABITAT in Kosovo.
CIP projects have to demonstrate
good action planning and intend to serve as a basis for closer cooperation
between stakeholders, including civil society organisations, and local
governments, both for the development of ideas, design and implementation
The aim of this project was to
recreate quality public space, as a result of a creative and integrated
planning process that will incorporate and influence a larger group of
citizens, using participatory planning techniques, introducing new standard
design features and pragmatic, easy-to-replicate techniques.
The overall objective of the project
is to maintain the modal balance of urban mobility in Mitrovica through the
improvement of the physical conditions of cohabitation between non-motorised
and motorised traffic and with other urban functions as an essential component
of sustainable urban development.
This project was initiated by a
petition from the school community and elaborated in dialogue
with the pupils, parents and neighbours of the school. Engaging people and
their neighborhoods in dialogue and
participation in planning process are essential for improvement of the quality
of life in the cities. Therefore inauguration of this joint project of

The inauguration ceremony will take
place on Wednesday, 3 October 2010 at 14:00 PM, at the location of the primary school
METO BAJRAKTARI in Mitrovica. Mayor of Mitrovica municipality Mr. Avni
Kastrati, and Mrs. Krystyna Galezia Head of UN-HABITAT Office in Kosovo, will
address the public with short statements, therefore media are cordially invited
to join this occasion.
