On 7 February 2011, Municipality of Junik officially submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning (MESP) for consent, the draft of Municipal Development Plan (MDP) of Junik.

Draft MDP meets all legal obligations, including the process of public review in which period the plan was exposed for inhabitants and different stakeholders to provide their views, comments, and raise issues as well as provide proposals to the plan before this plan is sent to Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning for consent and the final approval from Municipal Assembly of Junik.  

MDP of Junik is the first example in Kosovo, drafted with a different approach in comparison from the current practice. The plan is drafted by the municipal staff of Junik and supported by the MuSPP/UN-HABITAT team in cooperation with Cultural Heritage without Borders (CHwB) and Institute of Spatial Planning within the MESP.   

After its approval, MDP of Junik will be used to guide future development in Junik.
