The mayor of municipality of Rahovec/Orahovac, Mr. Smajl Latifi, exchanged the memorandum of understanding with the head of UN-Habitat’s Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme (MuSPP), Krystyna Galezia, on 01st of March 2012. The municipality of Rahovec/Orahovac is one of the 12 Kosovo partner Municipalities which will gain support on the spatial and urban planning field. By expressing his appreciation for UN-Habitat’s MuSPP support to the MDP process, Mr. Latifi, said that this support was very welcomed and has added value to the drafting of an inclusive spatial and urban plan. “Now we are at the final stage of the reviewing the MDP and the cooperation with UN-Habitat will help us achieve its better quality as well as foster its implementation”, added Mr. Latifi On the other side Mrs. Galezia, said the Un-Habitat and MuSPP funded by the Government of Sweden, has a pleasure of supporting citizens of Raohovec/Orahovac, on having the spatial and urban plans which will direct the future development of their municipality. “The exchange of this memorandum foresees the advancement of the support for your municipality. The duration of the implementation of the programme is 3 years, and the benefit for the citizens of your municipality will be evident”, Ms. Galezia said. Prior to the ceremony the memorandum was signed by the UN-Habitat HQ in Nairobi and encompasses a number of mutual duties and responsibilities for the improvement of spatial and urban order.
