Ms. Krystyna Galezia, Head of office, UN-Habitat’s Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme in Kosovo (MuSPP)and the  Mayor of Gracanica, Mr. Bojan Stojanovic  met  in the premises of the Municipality of Gracanica on 06^th of March 2012 to exchange the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that defines areas of cooperation over the next 3 years.

Under the  framework of the renewed MoU is the continuation of the assistance for drafting the Municipal Development Plan (MDP),  strategic environmental assessment of the development options proposed in the MDP and a capital-investment project which will be identified through the planning process at a later stage.

The meeting was attended also by Mr. Peter Engstrom and Mr Ishaku Maitumbi, professional advisors of UN-Habitat’s MuSPP in Kosovo.

The meeting was opened by Ms. Nada Brklac, Director of Department of Urbanism, Planning, Cadastre and Environment Protection in the Municipality of Gracanica and followed by Sadije Kelmendi, planner of UN-Habitat’s MuSPP and coordinator of the Gracanica MDP who made a presentation on the methodology and challenges on profile drafting.

During the meeting, the Municipal Planning Team of Gracanica (MPT), with the support of the  UN-Habitat’s planner in Gracanica, presented results of their work so far. This included the presentation of the compiled data and a draft version of a municipal profile.

Mayor of Gracanica, Bojan Stojanovic and Head of UN-Habitat’s MuSPP in Kosovo, Krystyna Galezia, stressed that they are satisfied with the work of the MPT on the MDP and agreed that the profile of the current situation is a very good basis for future phases of the MDP. They both stated that they are looking forward to continue cooperation under the third phase of the Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme.
