MuSPP organises seminar for the WORLD HABITAT DAY 2012, on 1st of October

The United Nations has designated the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day. The idea is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic right of all, to adequate shelter. It is also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat.
On Monday October 1st, UN-Habitat’s Municipal Support Program in Kosovo will be participating in the celebrations of the World Habitat Day 2012 dedicated this year to the theme Changing cities, building opportunities. The United Nations chose this theme because cities are the engines of growth. It is in the cities that many fulfill their dreams of a better life.
Every year many rural inhabitants leave the rural areas and come to the cities for the promise of a better future and prosperity. Under this theme, UN-Habitat wants to underscore the need
to plan our cities better because unplanned growth of cities leads to chaotic development and urban sprawl. When well planned, cities can continue to afford opportunities to both the current and future residents.

The Seminar will take place at the Ministries Building “Rilindja” (conference hall at the ground floor). For any further information you may contact us at 038 200 32 612, 045 492 673 or through the e-mail address catarina.camarinhas@unhabitat-kosovo.org
