Tour de Culture'13 on 22nd of September 2013

UN-Habitat's Municipal Spatial Planning Support together with the Cultural Heritage without Borders are providing support to the Cycling Federation of Kosovo, to organise the 6th edition of the cycling tour "Tour de Culture". The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 22, 2013 to mark European Mobility Week and European Heritage Days. Tour de Culture promotes non-motorised transport and cultural heritage while also joining other international initiatives where hundreds of cities around the world will host  organised cycling tours for promoting cycling as a healthier and better way of transport for the cities.

The planned region for this year's "Tour de Culture" is the South-East of Kosovo, and it will run across areas with character of Ferizaj/Urosevac municipality and its neighboring municipality Kacanik. The Tour has a leisure character, and the distance of the Tour will not exceed of 25 km and is therefore relatively easy to cover.  It should be noted that the cultural and natural sites of Ferizaj/Urosevac such as city library, the church and the mosque in the centre of the city would be a good starting point for the cyclists. The tour will begin at 12:00 from Ferizaj/Uroševac (Nika’s Mill at the bifurcation).

The event is also being supported by other national and international organisations such as: Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports, Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Council of Europe, as well as local businesses.

The event is anticipated to end at around 17:00, at the Kaçanik/Kaèanik castle. Transportation for all participants will be provided by the organizers, with buses departing from 6 major cities in Kosovo. For more information regarding bus transportation, terms of participations, as well as the tour route, download the brochure here: http://unhabitat-kosovo.org/en-us/Promotional_materials/date/2013-00-00

An exhibition overlooking the first 5 years of Tour de Culture, will be on display in Ferizaj/Urosevac at the starting point of the tour on September 22, and may be visited at the Mother Teresa Square in Prishtina/Priština, from September 16 until September 21.

We look forward to a high number of participants, due to the activity's popularity gained throughout these years.
