The Capital Investment Project "Green Corridor - Improving mobility and public spaces in the town center", a joint investment of the Municipality of Malishevë/Mališevo and MuSPP, was inaugurated on 27 November at the centre of Malishevë/Mališevo. This Capital Investment Project derives from the draft Municipal Development Plan of Malishevë/Mališevo, as a tangible translation of planning into concrete improvements and changes in mobility, public spaces and environment.

The inauguration, besides representatives of the Municipality and MuSPP, was also attended by many citizens of Malishevë/Mališevo. During the inauguration, as well as during the meeting held on this occasion, the Mayor of Malishevë/Mališevo, Mr. Ragip Begaj, expressed his gratitude for the overall support provided by MuSPP, and in particular for this Capital Investment Project. Mayor Begaj praised this project as very important, especially in enabling free and safe movement of pedestrians along the main town bridge, without being endangered by the motorised traffic. The Head of UN-Habitat in Kosovo Mrs. Gwendoline Mennetrier, congratulated the municipality, its staff, its Partners and the community for implementation of this project. She also expressed her satisfaction for the inauguration of this project which improves mobility, enables better movement, safety, and comfort for all, and also supports environment preservation and development of the river beds and their surroundings, making it more attractive for business and communities.

This project improves the town connectivity on both sides of Mirushë/Miruša River through soft mobility - extensions of the main bridge for the pedestrian movement, and improvement of public spaces along the river. Improvement and maintenance of greenery is also a crucial component of this project, as the first step towards the physical implementation of Mirushë/Miruša Green Corridor which is a strategic development objective for Malishevë/Mališevo Municipality.

This Capital Investment Project has been developed as the result of a close partnership, both technical and financial, between Malishevë/Mališevo Municipality and MuSPP, and active participation of a wide range of stakeholders in the scenario development and design for this area. This process has also equipped the municipality better for further projects design and implementation together with relevant stakeholders and citizens.

This initiative is being implemented and funded 50/50 by Malishevë/Mališevo Municipality and MuSPP, implemented by UN-Habitat with the financial support of the Swedish Development Cooperation.
