Training on Public Participation in Spatial Planning continues to be delivered to other municipalities

The "Training of Targeted Groups" dedicated to Public Participation in Spatial Planning has continued to be delivered in the regions of Ferizaj/Uroševac and Prizren by the pool of trainers previously identified during the process of "Training of Trainers", as part of the Rolling-out of MuSPP Toolbox "My Companion Towards Self-Sufficiency". The trainers were coming from the Municipalities of Ferizaj/Uroševac, Gjilan/Gnjilane, Graçanicë/Gračanica, Ministry of Administration of Local Government, non-governmental organizations as well as University of Prishtina and were supported by MuSPP/UN-Habitat team.  The three-day events were simultaneously held in Ferizaj/Uroševac and in Prizren from 29th of September to 1st of October 2015.

The training sessions started with an introduction on the experience and lessons learned of the MuSPP during the ten-year implementation period, comprised of a variety of spatial planning and capital investment projects associated with inclusive and transparent processes.

The various sessions, through presentations, exercises and discussions, dealt with public participation, visioning, gender mainstreaming and perspective in spatial planning and the very much appraised MuSPP related experience with Kosovo municipalities. In addition, exercises were designed in such a way that participants were put in the realistic positions of being involved with gender issues, identifying the stakeholders, reaching a consensual vision, breaking down the structure of activities for a public activity, etc.; and they were to solve these issues by working together in a group, role-playing the different stakeholders, presenting the outcomes, etc. The discussions were also significant since it was a very interactive way of conveying and sharing the information on the different experiences from different views on the challenges faced and possible solutions.

In the end the participants of the both regions (Ferizaj/Uroševac, Kamenica, Novobërda/Novo Brdo, Gjilani/Gnjilane, Vitia/Vitina, as well Prizreni/Prizren, Dragashi/Dragaši, Suhareka/Suvareka, and Malisheva/Mališevo and Prishtinë/Priština) were ceremonially given a certificate for their attendance at the training.
