As part of 'MuSPP Self-Sufficiency Toolbox', The Module on Drafting Municipal Development Plans (MDPs) has been successfully concluded after five trainings organised in Prishtinë/Priština, Ferizaj/Uroševac, Mitrovica North/Mitrovicë Veriore/Severna Mitrovica, Pejë/Peć and Prizren. These were targeted group trainings which were attended by more than 100 representatives from Kosovo municipalities, central level, as well as the civil society.

The cities of Pejë/Peć and Prizren welcomed the participants from 12 western Kosovo municipalities and MESP in the final Trainings on Drafting Municipal Development Plans (MDPs). These trainings took place from 10th to 12th of November and were attended by 38 representatives from the municipalities of Dragash/Dragaš, Gjakovë/Djakovica, Istog/Istok, Junik, Klinë/Klina, Malisheve/Mališevo, Mamushë/Mamuša, Prizren, Pejë/Peć, Rahovec/Orahovac, Suharekë/Suva Reka, as well as from MESP.

The participants through interactive presentations and group work exercises had the opportunity to understand and discuss, as well as to apply and develop the components of the MDP process. A particular focus was put on further improvement of the process in terms of assessing the current situation, drafting the development plan, as well as its implementation and monitoring. The participants also discussed and gave proposals on the municipal in-house capacity arrangements and strengthening as key elements for a comprehensive and inclusive process.

An important segment of the training was the planning reform in Kosovo. A presentation of the requirements and obligations for drafting the MDP, as part of the new legal framework, was delivered by MESP representatives.

The training was facilitated by trainers from the Municipality of Malishevë/Mališevo, Mitrovicë Veriore/Severna Mitrovica, Pejë/Peć, and Rahovec/Orahovac, supported by MuSPP/UN-Habitat team.

The ceremonial session concluded the trainings through certificate delivery to the participants. As recognition of their performance in training delivery, certificates were also given to all the trainers.
