The journey of rolling out the ''MuSPP Self-sufficiency Toolbox' reached its happy end

The journey of rolling out the ''MuSPP Self-sufficiency Toolbox'' started in June 2015, aiming to train 500 people coming from all Kosovo municipalities. The target groups were officials working for public institutions and non-governmental organizations at local level. These representatives were identified in close cooperation with the mayors of municipalities, directors of respective directorates or executive directors of NGOs, to be trained in four modules: Public Participation in Spatial Planning, drafting Municipal Development Plans, drafting Strategic Environmental Assessment of the Spatial Plans and Managing Capital Investment Projects.

Six month later, the objective was reached. After a tremendous engagement and work, all the trainings were successfully concluded bringing together about 400 trainees.  The very first training dedicated to Management of Capital Investment Projects was held in Prishtina, in June 2015 tailored for representatives from various municipal directorates from the Municipalities of Mitrovica North, Zveçan/ Zvečan and Zubin Potok. While the final training on Strategic Environmental Assessment was held in Peja/Peć, on November 2015, marking the happy end of the journey.

In general, trainings were organized in 5 regions of Kosovo (Prishtine/Priština, Peja/Peć, Prizren, Ferizaj/Uroševac, and Mitrovicë/Mitrovica), and were facilitated by the pool of trainers previously identified during the process of "Training of Trainers", as part of the rolling-out of MuSPP Toolbox "My Companion Towards Self-Sufficiency". The 27 trainers were from various sectors, such as: the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, the Ministry of Local Governance Administration, Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, Directorates of Urbanism within different municipalities, Mitrovica North Administrative Office and Non-Governmental Organizations.

Participants were from different spheres: governmental at central and local level, non-governmental and few of them also from private sector. The group of participants for each module was diverse not only in terms of age and gender, but also regarding their experience, institution or the sector they represent. This composition of training groups, made a suitable forum for discussion and exchange of ideas among experienced officials, young officials and independent experts, as one of the participants from Gjakova said ''this is one of the rare trainings, where I felt no need to look at my phone, but rather to enjoy and learn new things from trainers and my training colleages''.

Similar impressions were given by almost all participants, concluding that the information and knowledge gained during these trainings will help them a lot during their daily work. The new professional network and contacts established during trainings were considered as an additional asset and hope for future significant cooperation between participants coming from different municipalities.
