The management of the Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme met with mayors of Hani i Elezit/General Jankovic, Pejë/Pec and Junik on January 20 and 21, 2010 to discuss further cooperation with these municipalities.

Those meetings served also as an opportunity to present the hither to work of the programme to the newly elected mayors of Hani i Elezit and Junik as well as to hear about development priorities of the new municipal authorities. In both of these municipalities MuSPP teams support municipal offices in drafting municipal development plans. The process done “in house” is viewed with appreciation by both the municipal authorities and staff is regarded as a successful capacity building measure. The preparation of MDP’s will lead to identifying capital projects to be co-funded by the Municipalities and MuSPP.

In Pejë/Pec the discussion with the re-elected mayor focused on the completion of a design for the improvement of an area in the and in the city centre and on drafting of a regulatory plan for Zatra, an informal settlement. Also these projects are conducted in close cooperation with the municipal officers and are supported by municipal authorities.
