Culture Tour 2008
Practicalities
in Brief
Culture
Tour 2008 is a leisure bicycle tour from Peja/Pec to Gjakova/Djakovica, via
Isniq/Isnic, Deçan/Decane and Junik.
The tour
will stop for discovery and refreshment at various cultural heritage sites on
the way (bring your cameras). In between, enjoy the beautiful country and
scenery of Dukagjini region.
The Culture
Tour will avoid main roads and is guided by competent staff. It is a leisure
tour that will suit most reasonably fit women and men of all ages with a
reliable every day bicycle.
If you feel
like using another type of nonmotorised transport (jogging, skating, horse, etc.)
please feel free to do so, for part or for the whole trip.
If you have
a mobility impairment, please inform us and we will seek a solution.
The tour
starts from Peja/Pec train station at 9h30 with a warm-up tour through the city.
It will
call in Deçan/Decane round 11h30 for refreshments and in Junik round 13h30 for
lunch.
It will be
welcomed in Gjakova/Djakovica at 16h30. The length of the entire trip is 55 km.
Chartered
buses will return participants and bicycles to Peja/Pec round 18h00.

to participate, please inform us as soon as possible by writing to culturetour@unhabitat-kosovo.org,
individually or as a group, so refreshments, food and buses can
be ordered
accordingly.

of the Culture Tour
The Culture
Tour is organised on the occasion of the European Mobility Week and the

Culture
Tour objectives are:
*Promote
existing beauties of cultural and natural heritage in Kosovo
*Promote
non-motorised transport for more efficient mobility for all, for healthy
lifestyles and for a cleaner environment
*Increase
awareness among stakeholders about the importance of safer roads and
non-motorised transport itineraries
*Discover
potentials for developing sustainable tourism
*Empower
participation and involvement of women, civil society and people with
disabilities
Culture
Tour is an annual event. It will grow with each edition to become a Kosovo wide
popular event.

Organisers
The
Municipalities of Peja/Pec, Gjakova/Djakovica, Junik and Deçan/Decane
participate
in the
European Mobility Week and co-organise the Culture Tour 2008 as part of their
mobility and cultural heritage policies.
Furthermore,
Culture Tour is co-organised by: Cyclist Federation of Kosovo, Cycling Clubs of
Peja/Pec and Gjakova/Djakovica, Cultural Heritage without Borders and UN-HABITAT
Kosovo MuSPP, funded by Sida and with the support of the European Commission
Liaison Office.
Disclaimer
An
ambulance, a mechanic and a back-up truck will accompany the tour. Refreshment
and food as well as transport will be provided. BUT participation is at own risk,
the organiser decline any responsibility for your health, safety and comfort.
You should be able to rely on your own fitness, gear and logistics at any time.
