The team of MuSPP2 together with the Municipality of Hani i Elezit/General Jankovic has been conducting a survey to collect data necessary for preparing a municipal profile. This document will be subsequently used in drafting the Municipal Development Plan (MDP) and the Urban Development Plan (UDP). The survey will cover approximately 1500 households in the municipality, which is one of the largest local surveys held so far.

The purpose of the survey is to collect information on housing situation, number of inhabitants and family structure, property ownership, land use, social services and transport. The survey is being conducted by five teams composed of municipal officers and MuSPP2 staff. The survey which started on June 1, 2009 is almost over in the urban part of the municipality and will continue in the rural areas as of next week.  It is expected that the survey will be completed by the end of June. The next step will be to process and analyse the compiled data, and develop a Municipal Profile for Hani i Elezit/ General Jankovic.

Hani i Elezit/General Jankovic, which is a new municipality, is obliged to draft MDP and UDP to guide the municipal and urban development in the future. The decision on drafting MDP and UDP was taken by the municipal assembly in the session held on 27 January 2009. The municipality and MUSPP established cooperation last year, when Hani i Elezit/General Jankovic still had the status of a pilot municipality. The Visioning Workshop for Hani i Elezit/ General Jankovic in April 2008 was the first step in this cooperation, which has now turned into a more substantial support with the focus on the development of MDP and UDP. The intention of the local government is to have the MDP and UDP drafted by their own staff with the assistance of MuSPP2.
