On 26th of June 2014, an agreement of cooperation was exchanged between the Municipality of Gračanica/Graçanicë and UN-Habitat/ Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme (MuSPP) funded by the Swedish Development Cooperation. This agreement was signed for the implementation of a Capital Investment Project (CIP) aiming at regulating and upgrading the schoolyard and playground park in Radevo/Radevë.

The Parties were represented by the Mayor of Municipality of Gračanica/Graçanicë, Mr. Branimir Stojanovic, and the Director of Urbanism, Cadastre and Environment, Mr. Dejan Jovanović, whilst UN-Habitat's MuSPP was represented by Mrs. Gwendoline Mennetrier, Chief Technical Advisor, together with international and local planners from the programme. Mr. Stojanovic, expressed his gratitude for the support given to the Municipality of Gračanica in the drafting of the Municipal Development Plan (MDP), which was approved by the Municipal Assembly this week and stressed that now the Municipality has a good basis for development and finally pointed out their commitment for implementing the plan.

The Mayor of Gračanica/Graçanicë also emphasised the importance of the project for which the agreement of cooperation was being signed, and expressed his gratitude for financial and professional support to improve the primary school's yard as well as other municipal public spaces.

The identification and development of this CIP has derived from the process of drafting the MDP, assisted 'in-house' by MuSPP, and is being  based on several thematic workshops and consultation meetings between the Municipality, the civil society and MuSPP/UN-Habitat team.

The focus of the CIP is to improve the infrastructure of the public functions network within the village of Radevo/Radevë, which is one of the most vulnerable and multi-ethnic settlements of the municipality. It contains regulation of schoolyard and park for schoolchildren, regulation of playground on the municipal land adjacent to schoolyard for children of the whole community, construction of fence and retaining wall for the park arrangement and development of infrastructure network for water supply and sewage of the site. The project costs are estimated to be 100,000 Euros and financing will be done on co-sharing basis 50/50, between the Municipality of Gračanica/Graçanicë and MuSPP.

The implementation of this project is planned to be finalized during the summer, before the school year will begin.
