UN-Habitat, PAX and the Municipality of Mitrovica South, on October 10^th 2016 signed a Memorandum of Understanding, committing to joint efforts towards fostering Inclusive Development and Good Governance in the Municipality of Mitrovica South. The memorandum was signed by Ms. Gwendoline Mennetrier (UN-Habitat representative in Kosovo), Mr. Agim Bahtiri (Mayor of the Municipality of Mitrovica South) and Mr. Michael James (PAX representative) represented by Ms. Florentina Hajdari (Community Building Mitrovica - CBM).

Mr. Agim Bahtiri expressed his gratitude for the ongoing cooperation with UN-Habitat and highlighted the need to further support the municipality in inclusive spatial planning processes with special consideration to the new reality for Mitrovica, in light of the spatial planning legal reform.

Ms. Gwendoline Mennetrier commended the municipality for taking concrete steps in building partnership with civil society organizations in the planning process and expressed her appreciation towards the municipality's readiness to assess and draft municipal planning documents in coordination with all relevant stakeholders, a component of the programme which will be facilitated by CBM. The municipality was also informed on the progress related to the Block by Block Initiative on Mitrovica Market Places which foresees activities in support of market and public space revitalization, development and management for the urban area of Mitrovica.
