Hani I Elezit Municipal Development Plan receives the consent from the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning
The Municipal Development Plan of Hani I elezit has received the consent by the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning on 19th of July 2011. The document has been drafted by the municipal staff of Hani I Elezit with the professional support from the staff of the Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme (MuSPP) which is implemented by UN-HABITAT and funded by the Swedish Agency for International Cooperation Sida.
A Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) report, which now is a formal requirement for the MDP, was drafted by MuSPP through an external environmental expert in January 2011. The SEA has also received the consent by the Environmental Department within MESP.
The MDP is a strategic document which covers the entire municipality of Hani I Elezit and aims at providing a framework for guiding the social, economic and spatial development of Hani I Elezit.
The drafting process of the Hani I Elezit MDP involved public meetings, consultations and feedback on the quality of the draft versions of the plan from various groups of stakeholders such as the public sector, non-governmental organizations, business community, media and citizens at large.
The decision by the Municipal Assembly to adopt the plan will be in the next meeting which is planned for the end of summer 2011.
