Citizens participate on the improvement of the school yard
Municipal Spatial Support Planning Programme (MuSPP) with
the Directorate of Urbanism Junik Municipality are developing and designing a
Capital Investment Project (CIP) in a high school in Junik. The CIP will focus
on the improvement of the school yard and addressing
accessibility issues.
On March 31, school pupils, management, parents, Municipal
officers, MuSPP staff gathered for the second consultation meeting and discussed
two scenarios for the project. The scenarios were derived from the first consultation meeting, however
during the meeting new
ideas were further proposed by representatives from the above mentioned
stakeholders.
Comments and remarks from the stakeholders will be used as
suggestions for the MuSPP staff and the Directorate on Urbanism in developing
the preferred scenario for the school
yard improvement.
At the end of the presentation, some participants pointed
out the importance of having a multipurpose sport area in the school yard,
while others felt that leisure spaces and greenery would be very useful in this
school yard because Junik lacks parks and other regulated areas.
The preferred scenario will be developed and it will be
consulted with the same stakeholders at the end of the April 2010.
