The Capital Investment Project "Green Corridor - Improving mobility and public spaces in the town center", a joint investment of the Municipality of Malishevë/Mališevo and MuSPP, was inaugurated on 27 November at the centre of Malishevë/Mališevo. This Capital Investment Project derives from the draft Municipal Development Plan of Malishevë/Mališevo, as a tangible translation of planning into concrete improvements and changes in mobility, public spaces and environment.click here for more information

The Municipality of Gjilan with support from the Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme in Kosovo (MuSPP) funded by Swedish Development Cooperation and implemented by UN-Habitat, is currently drafting a pilot Municipal Housing Profile (MHP) for Gjilan. Training on strategic environmental assessment (SEA) in Kosovo

The training course on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) aimed at enhancing the understanding and capacity for the implementation of SEA in Kosovo spatial planning activities, and addressed general SEA principles, specific methodologies, stages and tasks. The objective of the training was to improve participants understanding of the benefits of and possibilities for using SEA as a tool in strategic decision making and to enable participants to independently utilise SEA in their own work. click here for more information

The Local Solid Waste Management Plan of Junik was approved by the Municipal Assembly

Up-to-date solid waste management planning at the local level is a necessary and essential element in maintaining an environmentally-sound integrated solid waste management program. Towards improved public spaces and water supply in Hani i Elezit/Elez Han

On 8th of July 2014, the Municipality of Hani i Elezit/Elez Han and UN-Habitat's Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme (MuSPP) funded by the Swedish Development Cooperation exchanged an Agreement of Cooperation for co-funding a Capital Investment Project (CIP) in the said Municipality. MuSPP co-finances the improvement of public space in Gračanica/Graçanicë Municipality

On 26th of June 2014, an agreement of cooperation was exchanged between the Municipality of Gračanica/Graçanicë and UN-Habitat/ Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme (MuSPP) funded by the Swedish Development Cooperation. Local Waste Management Planning in Kosovo

Addressing environmental concerns is one of the important priorities in Kosovo on its orientation towards European integration process. The Government of Kosovo has recently approved the National Strategy and Action Plan on Waste Management. These documents recognise that the pollution caused by improper waste management is one of the greatest environmental challenges in Kosovo. Several MuSPP3 partner municipalities have identified solid waste management as one of the most critical issues they are currently facing in the environmental field, and two municipalities have requested the Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme (MuSPP) for specific guidance on this matter, namely by updating their Local Waste Management Plans in face of the recent National Strategy and Action Plan on Waste.click here for more information

Sustainable development in Kosovo: Introducing Estonian environmental practices in Kosovo municipalities

As part of the project "Sustainable development in Kosovo: introducing Estonian practices on waste and water management in Kosovo municipalities", a workshop on environmental planning practices took place on the 10th of June in Pristina. The project is funded by the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and coordinated by HEDC (Harju County Entrepreneurship and Development Consultancy) in cooperation with UN-Habitat/MuSPP. The workshop included presentations on common environmental challenges in European municipalities and green infrastructure by Ms. Kadri Tillemann and on local scale sewage technologies by Mr. Indrek Salis.click here for more information

Kosovo delegation visits environmental projects in Estonia

A study visit of a Kosovo delegation to Estonia took place from 12th to 16th May 2014. The delegation, composed of municipal representatives from MuSPP partner municipalities and one representative from the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, visited the Estonian Parliament and had an occasion to meet with members of the Estonian Parliament Environment Committee, and discuss international cooperation and exchange of experiences in environmental protection and water and wastewater issues. Cross-border challenges were debated, with the example of Lake Peipus, where an effective cooperation with Russian authorities is essential. click here for more information

Towards improving public spaces of Mamushë/Mamusa

29 April 2014

An Agreement of Cooperation (AoC) for the implementation of Capital Investment Project (CIP) has been signed between Municipality of Mamushë/Mamusa and MuSPP/UN-Habitat on 28 April, 2014. The mayor of Mamushë/Mamusa, Mr.Arif Butuc, expressed his gratitude towards UN-Habitat's MuSPP, for its financial and professional support to improve the secondary school's yard as well as other municipal public spaces. The CIP is co-founded on 50/50 basis and it has derived from the process of drafting Municipal Development Plan (MDP), which has been supported professionally from UN-Habitat's MuSPP, financed by the Swedish development cooperation. The draft-MDP for Mamushë/Mamusa is waiting for the consent from the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning (MESP), whilst its Strategic Environment Assessment (SEA) has already been approved by the Municipal Assembly.click here for more information

The Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme in Kosovo (MuSPP), implemented by UN-Habitat and funded by the Swedish Development Cooperation, organized a workshop in Ohrid, FYROM, on 19 and 20 March 'Making better cities together': Where are we? Where do we want to go, and how?. The workshop aimed at introducing the Programme to newly elected Mayors from MuSPP partner municipalities, its respective support and related achievements, as well as discussing the new municipal planning management requirements set by the Government of Kosovo, challenges and recommendations for yearly programming and further cooperation.click here for more information

At the margin of the workshop 'Making better cities together': Where are we? Where do we want to go, and how?', that took place on March 19-20, 2014 in Ohrid, the Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme (MuSPP) and the Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning (MESP), Mr Dardan Gashi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding providing a comprehensive framework of cooperation between the Ministry and UN-Habitat for the smooth implementation of the MuSPP which aims to sustainable development of partner municipalities through strategic and comprehensive planning interventions.click here for more information

Municipal Assembly of Hani i Elezit / Elez Han approves Detailed Urban Plan of Centre and Park Neighbourhood

The Assembly of Hani i Elezit/Elez Han approved the Detailed Urban Plan (DUP) for the Center and Park neighbourhood of the municipality, on its second annual meeting held on 27th of February 2014. The Plan was drafted by the department of Urbanism, Cadastre and Environment Protection (UCEP) within the municipality, with professional support of the Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programe (MuSPP), implemented by UN-Habitat and funded by the Swedish Development Cooperation. The plan aims to guide development within the area by ensuring the integrated delivery of infrastructure i.e. roads, sewage systems as well as encouraging the use of non-motorised modes of transport. The plan was also drafted in an inclusive manner with the participation of all relevant stakeholders throughout the entire process. click here for more information

Zatra Green Boulevard inauguration

The inauguration ceremony of Zatra Green Boulevard took place on January 29, 2014 in Peja/Pec. The project is deriving from the municipal spatial planning process (Municipal/Urban Development and Urban Regulatory Plans) and came as the result of a participatory design approach, together with other partners such as MOBKOS - Urban Mobility in Kosovo, and the University of Ghent. The project is integrated in a city-wide approach to promote connectivity and soft mobility. Zatra neighbourhood was subject of an Urban Regulatory Plan, developed jointly by UN-Habitat and the municipality of Peja/Pec.click here for more information

Inauguration of Moronica Natural Park in Junik, Kosovo
