The journey of rolling out the ''MuSPP Self-sufficiency Toolbox'' started in June 2015, aiming to train 500 people coming from all Kosovo municipalities. The target groups were officials working for public institutions and non-governmental organizations at local level. These representatives were identified in close cooperation with the mayors of municipalities, directors of respective directorates or executive directors of NGOs, to be trained in four modules: Public Participation in Spatial Planning, drafting Municipal Development Plans, drafting Strategic Environmental Assessment of the Spatial Plans and Managing Capital Investment Projects.click here for more information

As a part of MuSPP Self-Sufficiency Toolbox rolling out process, the first Trainings of Targeted Groups on Drafting Municipal Development Plans (MDPs) were held in parallel in Prishtinë/Priština and Ferizaj/Uroševac from 27th to 29th of October. These trainings targeted 19 municipalities and the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning (MESP) representatives, and were facilitated by the trainers identified in the Training of Trainers phase - respectively municipal officials coming from Pejë/Peć, Malishevë/Mališevo, Rahovec/Orahovac, Gjilan/Gnjilane and Graçanicë/Gračanica.click here for more information

Training on Public Participation in Spatial Planning continues to be delivered to other municipalities

The "Training of Targeted Groups" dedicated to Public Participation in Spatial Planning has continued to be delivered in the regions of Ferizaj/Uroševac and Prizren by the pool of trainers previously identified during the process of "Training of Trainers", as part of the Rolling-out of MuSPP Toolbox "My Companion Towards Self-Sufficiency". The trainers were coming from the Municipalities of Ferizaj/Uroševac, Gjilan/Gnjilane, Graçanicë/Gračanica, Ministry of Administration of Local Government, non-governmental organizations as well as University of Prishtina and were supported by MuSPP/UN-Habitat team. Block by Block in Prishtinë/Priština: Youth and Communities at work for improved public spaces!

Within the framework of UN-Habitat Global Programme on Public Space, the Municipality of Prishtinë/Priština and UN-Habitat in Kosovo teamed up to implement a Block by Block pilot initiative in support of participatory decision-making for improved public spaces. In this context, and as a follow-up of the community information meeting held on 3rd of September 2015 in "Bregu i Diellit/ Sunny Hill" neighbourhood, the Minecraft charrette/ workshop took place from 11th to 14th September 2015 in facilities of "Iliria" College, in Prishtinë/Priština. The workshop resulted into a new and inventive design, conceived collectively through the use of "Minecraft" gaming software, for a public space located in "Bregu i Diellit/ Sunny Hill" neighbourhood in Prishtinë/Priština.click here for more information

Improving and refurbishing Public Spaces in Mamushë/Mamuša

The Capital Investment Project "Improvement of Public Spaces in Mamushë/Mamuša" was inaugurated on the 9th of June. This project includes upgrading the schoolyard of Mamushë/Mamuša secondary school and refurbishing selected surrounding community parks. The project is a joint investment between the Municipality of Mamushë/Mamuša and the Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme (MuSPP) derived from the recommendations of the Municipal Development Plan. click here for more information

The Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme (MuSPP) has successfully completed the Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions, as the first phase of "MuSPP self-sufficiency toolbox" roll-out training sessions. The final module was dedicated to Drafting Municipal Development Plans, which correlates and consolidates elements triggered from other associated modules. Communities in Gorance and Paldenica (Hani i Elezit) enjoy improved public spaces

The Municipality of Hani i Elezit and UN-Habitat's Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme (MuSPP) inaugurated the Capital Investment Project (CIP) "Pubic Space Improvement in Gorance and Paldenica - Hani i Elezit" on 27 May 2015. The project was co-developed by both parties whilst it was extracted from the "Feasibility Study for Improvement and Management of Water Supply in Hani i Elezit" and the Municipal Development Plan, both drafted previously with the support of MuSPP. This CIP also supplemented the aforementioned Water Study by taking actions towards improvement of the water supply situation in settlements located outside the urban center.click here for more information

Training module “Public participation in Spatial Planning” in series of “Training of Trainers” was successfully held

In the light of rolling-out of "MuSPP self-sufficiency toolbox", the Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme (MuSPP) organized a 4-day "Training of Trainers" on Public Participation in Spatial Planning based on the developed module. The training was held on 5th - 8th of May in Durrës, Albania. A total number of 16 participants took part in the training comprising of 9 females and 5 males. The aim of the training was to create a pool of trainers who will contribute to the setting up and initiating a support system for capacity building on understanding and managing the process of public participation and gender mainstreaming in spatial planning.click here for more information

"Training of Trainers", a key milestone as part of 'MuSPP self-sufficiency Toolbox' towards developing a creative capacity development mechanism in spatial planning in Kosovo

In order to ensure sustainability of the achievements so far along with the established capacities in partner municipalities, MuSPP is developing training of trainers (ToTs) on Public Participation on Spatial Planning, Drafting Municipal Development Plans, Drafting Strategic Environmental Assessments, and Managing Capital Investment Projects. The training has two components: pedagogical and practical. The pedagogical module delivered in April by the Kosovo Education Centre (KEC) to about 50 future trainers, intended to make available basic principles of adult learning (andragogy) and various relevant methods for animating training sessions as well as tools and techniques to enable the trainers to subsequently deliver educational sessions in MuSPP-related areas.click here for more information

Gorance settlement from Hani Elezit Municipality selected as potential site for a biological sewage treatment plant

In 2014, the Municipal Spatial Planning Support Programme (MuSPP) partnered with Harju County Enterpreneurship and Development Consultancy (HCEDC) for the implementation of the project "Sustainable development in Kosovo: introducing Estonian practices on waste and water management in Kosovo municipalities" funded by the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Development Cooperation Programme. As a part of the project, a mini-grant programme was organized to project a biological purification plant for one Kosovo settlement. Whilst the programme targeted to identify and select a suitable site for a small-scale, affordable but yet effective treatment facility in Kosovo, similar ways to treat wastewater in small settlements were introduced to representatives from 12 Kosovo municipalities when they visited Estonia earlier in 2014 and these were found to be very interesting and potentially replicable in Kosovo.click here for more information
